Queensland has a long connection with PARO. The Griffith University randomised trial that most Australian proposals cite ran across 28 long-term care facilities in South-East Queensland, and Bolton Clarke brought PARO to residents at Farnorha in Cairns in 2018. Carinity, another Queensland provider, has put lower-cost robotic cats and dogs into all 12 of its homes.

Using the local evidence
Queensland facilities can point to a trial run in their own state when they write a proposal. Video observation in that trial recorded less agitation with PARO than with usual care, and more engagement. It found no difference on the staff-rated agitation scale, and a proposal should say so.
